Plastic Free July in Action!

Picture
Individual Stories: Sue Starr and the HEN Group (Home Environmental Network)
Sue and the HEN group ran a successful display at the Esperance Supa IGA on 9th and 10th July. She set up a display and sewing machine, and made terylene veggie bags for anyone who was interested. They put The Plastic Free July brochure into the bags. I think we will have another similar display later in the year concentrating on the Plastic issues.

Individual Stories: Amy Cooke, Western Australia
Fifteen year old Amy Cooke presented a workshop teaching people how to make reusable produce bags from recycled net curtains. At home Amy buys the curtains from op shops and sews them into produce bags, the proceeds going to her local community garden. She says "I know how important it is to look after our natural environment...in our home, instead of plastic, we use my RE-Bag-it cloth bags for our fruit and vegetables".

Individual Stories: Charmaine Jones, Western Australia

Charmaine whipped up her own produce bags using a couple of old Bali singlets! Just sew up the bottom and they are done.
